Pete Gluszek has been featured in local and national newspapers, magazines and on TV and radio: BASSMASTERS, BASS TIMES, BASSIN’ Magazine, BassEast, In Fisherman,  ESPN and others.

The Beginning:

One of the first places I remember fishing is a small tributary to the Potomac River.  My father used to take my brother and me fishing for yellow perch in the early spring.  That’s the first time I can remember catching fish and enjoying the outdoor experience.  I was about four years old.  Seems like a very unusual coincidence that I would later come back to the Potomac River to compete in professional tournaments some twenty years later.  My professional debut on the Potomac was a 2nd place finish at a Bassmaster Invitational.  I guess that’s why I still feel the Potomac is one of my favorite places in the world to fish.

My tournament fishing began by accident.  I was a hard core bass fisherman by my teenage years, but hadn’t been exposed to the world of competitive fishing.  One day while talking about fishing with a college buddy, he asked me to fish with him in a small buddy tournament.  I didn’t know anything about tournament fishing, but I did know a great deal about the tournament site, Menantico Ponds.  I had been fishing there for years and couldn’t be more excited about the opportunity to compete there.  As it turned out, my buddy Vic and I won the tournament.  This started a chain reaction of events which lead me to turning pro eight years later.

After I graduated from Rutgers University, I worked as an environmental consultant for six years.  In 1997 I qualified for the Bassmaster Top 100 and turned in a letter of resignation. For the past eleven seasons I have competed on the Bassmaster and/or FLW tournament trails.  I’m still amazed that I have been able to make a career out of this awesome sport.

The Future:

The 2009 Tournament Season looks great.  I am scheduled to compete in the FLW Tour events and return to the Bassmasters for the Northern Open tournament trail.  I’m looking forward to this season with opportunity to qualify for both the 2009 Forest Wood Cup and the Bassmaster Classic.  As such, I have set some lofty goals for myself this year.
